Netscape Communicator 4.73 is the  major update in the 4.x communicator line of products and this edition has major change in platform support.  While Windows 3.1x is dropped out from the supported Operating systems, new OS are given support including Windows ME and Windows 2000.

With this edition the developers introduced Netscape Radio, an on-line Internet based Radio service with 200 channels.  This edition also added new functionalities like AOL Instant Messenger, RealPlayer, WinAMP Mediaplayer, and PalmPilot. On the security point this edition added 128 bit strong encryption for secured shopping.
